Big Deal is an offline platform which serves as a starting point for the conversation about problem-solving efforts during specific stressful situations as we have experienced several times over the past year.
During lockdown I researched the coping mechanisms of young people in isolation. I started a conversation with a select group, each with a different coping mechanism. They provided me personal audiovisual material that provides insight into their own coping mechanisms. I made an audiovisual portrait of the material they provided me, ranging from sketches and notes to voice messages and photos. These portraits serve as a starting point of the conversation on the Big Deal platform. The audiovisual portraits are part of the entire installation, where a test can be taken, portraits can be viewed and insights can be shared by means of physical and visible notes.
The AV portraits consist of a series of 7 videos.

“It’s important to make my own decisions and not go to anyone, as if someone had to save me.
Too much help can be counterproductive, but for me it’s a relief to share it with someone.”
